Reasons to Avoid Being an Astronaut

After reading a bedtime book about the Mars rover, Sarah asked Oliver if he would ever want to be an astronaut:

Oliver: No! No. No. Not even one tiny teeny bit.

Sarah: Oh. That sounds like a pretty strong “no.” Why not?

Oliver numbers his reasons:

  1. Black holes. They can suck you up and turn you into the size of an atom.
  2. I don’t know what Jupiter looks like and I might run into it.
  3. If I go for a space walk, I might forget where I put my spaceship.
  4. If I go out into space, I don’t know if I’ll have enough gas to get back home.

Space Science

For years we have despaired that our children would grow up to be shiftless, unmotivated drones. Fortunately, for at least the past six months, they have settled onto a pair of robust dreams for the future. Maggie will be an astronaut. Griffin, who is less excited about the discomforts of space travel, will be a space scientist, staying on the ground but helping Maggie with her experiments.
